GEOschools teachers’ seminar in Molina de Aragón, Guadalajara
“Urban geotopes and local museistics”
The work package on Local museistics and urban geotopes took place in the small town of Molina de Aragón, located in the core of the Iberian range, and within the territory of the natural park, and geopark candidate, of high Tagus (Alto Tajo). The splendid geological features of the area has favoured the definition of many urban geotopes, as many villages around are directly set on geological features, rock formations, erosional landforms… which remain untouched and allow a diverse learning of geology in the population nuclei of the region.
On the other hand, the rich fossiliferous units of the area, holding some remarkable examples of rare and exceptional fossil sites and specimens, has fostered an intense local museistics including exhibition centres in the population nuclei, as that of Molina de Aragón, and the arranged sites which are good cases of Exomuseums, made it a particularly favourable place as a venue for this event.
A whole of 20 participants took part in the event, including geologists and professionals from the research, teachers and also geologists working for local companies and for the Administration, although Secondary school geology teachers were majority. [More]
